How To Convert Fat32 To NTFS File System Without Formatting Or Losing Data.



FAT file system is found in some of the earlier versions of Windows 7, 8.1. Recent file systems come with NTFS for enhanced performance and security of data on hard disks and partitions. Sometimes we find it difficult to transfer huge files to a FAT file system, whereas NTFS allows automatic data compression, file encryption and has disk partition quotas. If you want to convert  FAT32 to NTFS without losing data or without  formatting, then simply follow the instructions below.

How To Convert FAT32 to NTFS without Data Loss In An Simple  And Secure Way



Step 1:

Close all the running programs on the drive/partition that needs to be converted.

Step 2:

Click on Start Button > All Programs > Accessories> Right-click on Command Prompt and click on Run as Administrator (type administrator password if you get such dialogue box).

Step 3: Type following command.
Convert space drive_letterfs:ntfs (in place of drive_letter you need to type the drive you want to convert for I.g. I:/).

 So the command looks like this- convert I:/fs:ntfs    (this will convert drive I into NTFS format)

Step 4:

Type name of the volume which you would like to convert and then press Enter (make sure you type existing name of the volume or the process will be cancelled) Go to Computer folder > Hard Disk Drives to see all available volumes.

Process completed! You can now restart your computer. Make sure that the disk has sufficient space or the process might fail. If error occurs, try to delete unnecessary files or move data to other drive.

Note: Doing this, NTFS will not affect the data stored in partition.
